One day courses starting at 10:00 a.m. and finishing at 4:30 p.m. Each with comprehensive guidance & supportive handouts.
Cost: £80 per day including fabric, lining & sundries.
Forthcoming courses:
During this one day course students will be shown how to measure and estimate fabric and then how to construct a roman blind working out the necessary proportions for the folds. All sundries and fabrics are included in the price.
Curtain Making: Stage 1 – Saturday 13th March 2010
This one day course includes all the basic information needed to make a pair of handmade curtains, from the initial stage of measuring windows and estimating fabric, to the various stitches required including how to mitre corners using weights, each of which students will make samples to take with them for future reference. This course is designed as a prelude to and in conjunction with the course being held on Saturday 20th March 2010 – No previous experience necessary.
Curtain Making: Stage 2 – Saturday 20th March 2010
This course is a follow on from stage 1 and will move onto the making of a small sample curtain with either a hand or machine heading which students will take home with them. This course is designed for students who have either completed stage 1 or have some experience in curtain making and are able to use a sewing machine.
Upholstered Headboards – Friday & Saturday 16-17th April 2010
This is a two day course where you will be shown how to make a headboard using modern upholstery methods. The headboard will be suitable for a single bed and is designed for the more 'contemporary' taste. NB Additional costs will be incurred for the materials necessary to complete this project.
Making Pelmets – Saturday 24th April 2010
Come to this one day workshop where you will be shown how to design and make a pelmet. Choose from a variety of fabrics and finish with either piping or an appropriate trimming. Each student will have the opportunity to take home with them their product of the day.
Making Cushions – Saturday 8th May 2010
During this one day course students will learn how to make a cushion cover with piped edges and a zip fastening.
Have Fun With Trimmings – Saturday 12th June 2010
This one day course is for those who would like to experiment with trimmings but not sure how to apply them. We will discuss where and how to use trimmings students will then be offered a wide range of trimmings to experiment with. A fun day allowing students to develop their creativity. Each student will take home their sample of applied trimmings.
